SSGT Shane Henry Kimmett U.S. Air Force at the age of 28 died August 7, 2002 serving the country he loved as his ill-fated airplane crashed in Puerto Rico. Shane was born in Boulder, Colorado on February 5, 1974. He lived in his beloved state until enlisting in the U.S. Air Force at the age of 20.
During his years of service, Shane was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, and Hurlburt Field, Florida. Shane loved to fly and firmly believed he had the best job in the world. He loved the mountains of Colorado, and everything about aviation. Shane was one of three airmen qualified to fly all versions of the C130. His wife Emily served in the United States Army as a Spanish linguist.
At a graveside service in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO, his Air Force brethren flew with him on his final sortie as he made the “permanent change of station” to Heaven.
