Corporal Michael Emerson Berry Michael Emerson Berry, age 23, drowned in a swimming accident on the American River in Sacramento, California on July 21, 2012. Michael was born on August 16, 1988 in Lynnwood, Washington. Michael was a scout sniper in the USMC and decorated war hero with tours to Iraq and Afghanistan, earning multiple medals including three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He is survived by his Parents, James Berry and Lori Smith-Berry; his siblings, Benjamin Berry (Marissa), Chelsey Berry and Jaci Smith (David); grand-parents, Lawrence and Gayle Smith and Robey Berry; uncles, Ian Smith (Kari) and Kane Smith (Paula) John Berry (Cindy), George Berry (Carla); and girlfriend, Rebecca Everett. The only thing Michael would want is for us to be strong and remember him for the man he was, a true American and someone that chased his dreams with relentlessness and determination. Michael will be forever missed, but never forgotten for his bravery and passion for much of what life had to offer. We love you Michael, R.I.P
