MAJ Rosenberg as a boy ran around his family’s South Florida home in military fatigues. MAJ Rosenberg was on his second deployment to Iraq. ”He felt like what he was doing in Iraq was the right thing both times,” according to Lori Sousa, Mark’s sister. “He felt this was a humanitarian thing we needed to do. This time he felt he was really making a difference.” MAJ Rosenberg was part of a military intelligence tactical team which provided military training to Iraqis.

Mark grew up in south Florida. He graduated from American High School, Miami-Dade. While attending the New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, NM, MAJ Rosenberg met his wife, Julie. He enlisted in the Army in 1996. MAJ Rosenberg completed his college level education at Florida International University. Mark deployed to Korea from 2001 to 2002. After assignment in Oklahoma, MAJ Rosenberg was posted to Ft. Carson, CO. His first deployment to Iraq was from 2004 to 2005.

MAJ Rosenberg and his family lived in Fountain, CO. Lori Sousa explained that”He was the life of the party, with an infectious laugh. Everybody wanted to be around him. A wonderful father.” MAJ Rosenberg loved scuba diving, playing Wii with his family and tinkering with things around the house.

“He was a wonderful, wonderful man,” added Amanda Greer, a friend. “He had a smile for everybody.”
