A U.S. Army nurse died in Afghanistan. CPT Clark grew up in Addison, graduated from Addison High School in 1986 and served on the Addison Fire Department. He joined the Army in 2006 after earning his nursing degree from SUNY Brockport. He was assigned to William Beaumont Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. He delpoyed to Afghanistan in March 2012.
CPT. Clark, an Army nurse, “was passionate about serving our country,” according to Mariana Barry, CPT Clark’s sister-in-law. He lived in nearby Spencerport, NY, his wife’s hometown, in recent years and was a volunteer firefighter there. In the 6 years CPT Clark lived in Spencerport, people who came to know him and felt lucky they did. He was a husband and father also.
During his university years he was known for his empathy and compassion. “He’s remembered very fondly here as a hard-working person,” Assistant Professor Nancy Iafrati said. “He was self-motivated, he was self-directed and he interacted well with patients and families.”
CPT Clark is described as “awesome,” “professional” and “a great asset, leader and friend,” according to his family.
“He was an excellent nurse, a fierce patient advocate, and loved to teach students. But what I remember most about him is the great love he had for his wife and beautiful little girls,” one woman wrote. This was an entry on the Facebook page set up for CPT Clark.
